Scan not finding plug inI've posted this in the producer forum too, but thought I'd post it here too in case the visitors here don't frequent that forum.I've done a search and found some similar problems to this that were resolved, but none exactly the same so I'm putting this up and hoping that someone can help me.I downloaded the demo version of a 3rd party plug in, it worked fine and I thought it was good so bought the proper version. Hi Bitflipper - I was hoping you'd see this and chime in - if anyone can crack this I'm sure it's you!The plug is Rob Papen RP-Delay. They say there is no difference between demo and full version other than the time constraints and the inability to save presets. The demo version does not offer you the opportunity to convert to full version - I had to buy a serial no. Then register it and then download another installer which asks for your serial number during installation - the demo installer sadly does not give you this opportunity. MeshHi Paulo,Does the scanner completely finish scanning all your VST files/folders or does it quit scanning when it reaches RP-delay?Possibly moving it to a different location outside of the Cakewalk folder and then add the new location before scanning? (I'm of course throwing darts here).Hi MeshYeah, scan works as normal.

There are other RP plugs in the folder which it does pick up. Tried uninstalling the others / 3 different locations and still no difference. Thanks for suggestions though.

Help

BrandoSounds like the installer used a different folder for the installation of the.dll file, which is not being scanned by the Plugin Mgr. If you go to your plugin folder, can you physically locate the dll file corresponding to the plugin? If it is in another location, you can simply add the folder location to the scan preferences for the plugin manager. (Edit) - It sounds like you have checked this though - apologies if so.Yeah the.dll is in the correct folder. The other plug ins in the folder are picked up by the scan with no problem. I can un-install them and re-install them at will and they are picked up every time. I have even tried moving the troublesome one to other locations and even it's own folder and adding them to the scan, but it makes no difference - just gets ignored every time.

As I've said I can put the demo version of the same plug is in the same folder and it picks that one up no problem. Strikinglyhandsome1How about installing the demo again - see if it works and then uninstall it again - in case the demo caused the glitch in the first place. Do you have another DAW or Kore to see if they pick it up?I've had the demo on and off more times than I care to think about. Every time I install it, it works.

That's a good idea about trying another DAW. The only other DAW I have is an old bundled cubase lite type thing. Just tried opening that and it autoscans when it opens and it too seems to miss the full version but picks up the demo, so that would point to a non Sonar issue I guess, but I'm still puzzled why the demo which I'm told is identical works every time? It so happens that I have another Rob Papen product, RP-Distort, that exhibits the same odd behavior: the initialization fails, its entry in the Inventory is truncated, and SONAR does not include it in the context menus. At one point, Plugin Manager began aborting when it hit RP-Distort during the scan, leaving the bulk of my other plugins unavailable and disabling all of my projects. I had to delete RP-Distort, delete its entry in the registry and re-scan several times before I finally got all my plugins back. During all this, Plugin Manager remained silent, never offering so much as a warning dialog to suggest things were going terribly awry under the hood.I do not believe that this is Plugin Manager's fault, despite its being opaque and unhelpful. I am more inclined to blame some badly-handled or unhandled exception in the plugin's own initialization code.My solution was to simply bag RP-Distort and never use it.

Of course, RP-Distort was a freebie while you actually paid money for RP-Delay, so in your shoes I'd be talking to RP about this, and possibly looking for an alternative delay. (btw, I have RP-Delay and while it was fun to play with for a few days I've never actually found a use for it in the months since. I'm saving up for FabFilter Timeless.).
